This Weekend In and Around Mammoth
We’re writing this on Friday and we’re hoping that the weather folks’ predictions turn into reality and that we get the 6″ of fresh they’re talking about by tomorrow morning. If so, it will add a nice layer of fluff to the mountain with the most open terrain in California. It will also be a great lead in to Sushi Rei’s big apres party.
If you haven’t checked out their happy hour, you should. PBRs and hand rolls are $3 each and a PBR/hand roll combo is only $5, which is probably less than anywhere in Los Angeles. And the rolls are good to boot. In addition to just great deals of food and drink Sushi Rei will also be raffling off a Steepwater Snowboard, the house brand of Mammoth’s Wave Rave. Both the store and the board company are owned by accomplished big mountain snowboarder Steve Klassen. Although we haven’t ridden one ourselves, we’ve heard nothing but raves about ‘em. And if they’re good enough for Klassen, who has ridden some of the biggest lines in Alaska, they’ll probably serve you well. Especially if you get one for free!
The party kicks of a 3pm and the first ten folks through the door get a free beer. And lucky number eleven gets the snowboard. Who says lining up outlining outside of business establishments is just for Black Friday?
